Best Post Codes Ads

Today I'm going to explain why Santa is doing his job very quickly in the UK. It's because here, the postal codes are very very very accurate - in fact, the meter. The ZIP codes , called commonly postcodes , date from 1959 (since 1857 in London) and consist of letters and numbers (5-8). They are so precise that they make it possible to know which side of a street, and almost in which house one lives. Result of this very complicated system: there are about 27.5 million different postcodes in the country.

An English postcode is composed of several parts. Take the Hamleys toy store for example, although Santa Claus certainly knows the location. Hamleys is located at W1B 5BT. The postcode can be broken down like this:
W1: the postal district code, in this case West 1, London
B: one of the distribution centers of the postal district W1
5BT: separated from the first part of the postcode by a space, this code is reserved for a tiny distribution area of center B, a street or two in central London.

Demonstration with this map of London and its postal areas (the same ones that are indicated on the street signs), the letters in this case symbolizing directions (North, South East, East Center etc). In other major cities of the country, the first letters of the postcode are usually the initials of the city (G for Glasgow, B for Birmingham, etc.).

If we then get closer to the ground with a more detailed map, we can see that the districts E5, E8 and E9 (in East London, therefore) are subdivided into several distribution centers:

If you are a fan of the Royal Mail, you can even display a map of the Greater London Postcodes at https://www.postcode-ads.co.uk/ Sector Map ... (it would please Santa, there is a lot of red.)

Finally thanks to Googlemaps, we can sometimes see the exact area represented by the last three digits and letters of the postcodes (delimited by the purple circle below). I typed postcodes at random, the second for example it's NW5 1TL ...

Giving your postcode to someone is therefore sharing a very valuable information ... almost more than a phone number. The postcodes here allow the sat nav / TomTom cars to be extremely accurate, to insure you pay more if you're on the wrong side of the street, and to schools to accept children very strictly (a kid could be accepted but his neighbor no). Youth gangs are often based on their postcodes, and beware of those who walk in the enemy postcode ... A few years ago, the citizens of Windsor and Maidenhead asked to change postcode: they wanted to be WM, and no longer be associated with the poor of Slough (SL).

Some major organizations have postal codes for themselves: Parliament is SW1A 0AA, Buckingham Palace is SW1A 1AA, and 10 Downing Street is SW1A 2AA. Many banks or big companies too: the TV license (TV license) has a postcode ending in TL (BS98 1TL), British Telecoms finished in BT of course (DH98 1BT).

In short you can be sure that Santa Claus will find your chimney very easily (if you have been wise of course).
